Chartered Building Engineers & Building Control Approver

CLARIFICATION NOVEMBER 2025 - THE PERSONS REFERRED TO ARE NOT PERMITTED TO CARRY OUT BUILDING CONTROL ACTIVITIES IN BCP’S NAME. BCP HAS NO POWER TO REVISE ANY MISLEADING ENTRY ON THE BUILDING SAFETY REGULATORS STATUTORY REGISTER

BCP, to comply with the Building Safety Act, implemented the matters described on this page to certain named persons. However, some clarification may be beneficial.

BCP, as a statutory registered Building Control Approver (BCA) has no power to delete, effect or revise the status of the disassociated persons listing on the Building Safety Regulator’s (BSR) Statutory Public Register. BCP can and has disassociated itself from the persons, but the most BCP is able to do is as follows

a) Advertise that dissociation; as we have done.

b) Notify the named persons to revise their entries on the BSR Statutory Public Register, as these persons are the only legal entirety, both in liability and are able to effect such revisions by removing BCP’s name from their entry. BCP has served NOTICE on each person named to do that so as to prevent misleading information being provided to the public

c) Notify the BSR of the disassociation, as the BSR has ultimate control of the Statutory Public Register and may prosecute any person for a criminal offence who falsifies their status. BCP has notified the BSR and warned them of the misleading information being available to the public and that BCP had no powers or mechanism within the Building Safety Act and associated legislation to effect amendments to Registered Building Inspector (RBI) at any Class, entries. The matter is now with the BSR, these persons should not be associated with BCP on the register.

We appreciate this clarification may be complex. In short, irrespective of the BSR’s Statutory Public Register entry, these named persons may NOT carry out regulated Building Control activities or any other activity in the name of BCP.

Terry Griffin, Thomas Griffin, Terrance Griffin and Robert Griffin unfortunately have had their association as Registered Building Inspectors (RBI), Class 1 Trainee, terminated with BCP as their Building Control Approver (BCA) from June 2025. This means they must remove themselves, immediately from the Building Safety Regulators (BSR) register for RBI’s as they relate to or are associated with BCP.

The termination has been reported to the BSR who has stated it is these RBI’s who are now responsible, in their own right, for revising their status on the register so as not to provide misleading information to the public.
